It's been a long time coming, but I've finally finished Benihime.
It's made primarily from plywood and balsa wood, with red cord for the knot, red string for the tassle and craft foam for the detail as the bottom of the hilt. Painted with a combination of spray paint and enamel paint, and finished off with spray on clear varnish. I'd like to thank Nic from studiohybrid.org [link] and CommentsSimply fantastic, I am at a lost of words
I knew there was atleast one benihime design on the net that would blow mine right out of the water. And the person who did that was the guy who made that guide showing how he made benihime in your link. Your patience has done a great job and it looks outstanding. When I compare my benihime to yours its alot different. Your benihime is buff and strong while mine is slim and light. Ive been waiting a long time to see a better benihime on deviantart and this day I have seen it. It would be epic if both our benihime's could be in the same photo together -- The goals I hope to achieve on DeviantART: "Raise the Awareness of Swordmaking as an Art Form" "To Teach Everybody Swordmaking who wants to learn it" Thanks for that Chioky.
Now I need to think up one I can do by my own design. Thinking about it, I reckon it's gotta be a Shikai Zanpakuto. I was thinking of doing Zabimaru, but I've deceided against it, so now I'm blank. -- Projects Complete: Links Master Sword Benihime Shikai Seele Schneider Unnamed Katana It is really good. I wanted to make a Benihime using some of Nic's steps, Chioky's steps, and Featherweight's (cosplay.com) cardboard katana tutorial to make this. It did turn out to be beautiful!

You making one from cardboard? Hows it going? -- Projects Complete: Links Master Sword Benihime Shikai Seele Schneider Unnamed Katana Thanks, a lot of hard work went into it.
Think I won't use plywood next time, it was a nightmare at times with chipping when beveling the edge. -- Projects Complete: Links Master Sword Benihime Shikai Seele Schneider Unnamed Katana Well, I'm no longer making a Benihime, my sister called it and it looks unreleastic and crappy.
-- ~Third-Dan Swordmaker~ Member of =Soul-Slayers Thanks, keep an eye out for my next project.

When he finnally uploaded the sword my eyes widened in awe. It was like looking at an aurora borealis, you only see somthing this amazing once in awhile. The details were stunning and were all expertly placed with carefull skill. The proportion is well thought out and the overall quality of the sword is very clean.
Of course the only critque I have is that there is no sign of tsukamki. Of course since he was following tutorials on the construction of benihime perfectly this is to be expected. I had the pleasure to hold this sword when I met him in person, and I knew that the construction was flawless and this was one of the best handmade Benihime's I have ever seen. This sword will be known as the first step forward in his spectacular swordmaking future.
